JNP was invited to view Air New Zealand’s electric aircraft in Hamilton

Early in November, JNP was invited to view Air New Zealand’s new electric airplane in Hamilton. The innovative aircraft was designed by Beta Technologies.
It initially arrived by sea to the port, spending a short time at TRG airport and is now stationed in Hamilton for a technical demonstrator programme. Andrew Mercer from Air New Zealand and team demonstrated the aircraft to JNP.
The ALIA CX300 produces zero emissions in flight and has a reach of just under 400 km, making it a sustainable solution for short range flights.
From December the aircraft will operate between Wellington and Blenheim to transport cargo.
It was a fantastic opportunity for the JNP team to view this novel aircraft, to consider airport infrastructure and understand the aircraft’s features from a ground operations perspective.
