Where it started
JNP Aviation began at Whakatāne Airport in 2006. Starting as a contractor, Josh Payne had a clear vision - to provide exceptional ground operations services, while building a company people could be proud to work for. Over the following years, the JNP team grew and with it the number of ports where the company provided services. In 2017, eleven years after its beginnings in Whakatāne, JNP Aviation relocated its home base to Tauranga Airport to better support its expanding operations and logistics.
Where we are now
20 years later, JNP Aviation is firmly established across the motu, providing ground operations services at 10 ports and supporting several others throughout Aotearoa. While Tauranga remains home to the company’s head office, Josh has never lost sight of where it all began - Whakatāne will always be part of JNP’s story.
Today, over 120 employees proudly represent for JNP Aviation across Aotearoa, with approximately 40% identifying as Māori or Pasifika. This diversity reflects the communities we serve and the inclusive culture that has been an important part of JNP’s success.
Josh’s vision remains unchanged: to lead by example and demonstrate that with hard work, dedication, and the rights people around you, anything is possible.
