For the first time, ‘Run the Runway’ was held at Tauranga Airport with 500+ participants. In support of and raising money for the life saving Aerocool Rescue Helicopters in the Bay of Plenty, the event took place at Halloween. Gathering at Classic Flyers, lots of participants dressed up in costumes and enjoyed a beautiful sunset over the runway as the event started in the evening.
Classic Flyers and local aircraft owners positioned their aircraft along the course of the run and on the runway to make the event even more special. Our training ATR was pulled onto the apron to be with her sister aircraft once more.
A team of JNP Aviation and JNP Aviation Training employees volunteered their time and skill to support the airport during the event. A highlight was the great views and knowing to support a great cause for the Bay, while watching everyone enjoy the novelty of being on a runway.
Volunteers were dropped off by Classic Flyers’ old-timer firetruck to their stations where they ensured participants stayed on the runway and were cheered on.
